Earth Hour

Earth Hour March 31st, 2012; Earth Hour: 20:30 – 21:30pm.

WWF was officially established by a nonprofit conservationist organization on September 11th, 1961, with the name of World Wildlife Fund, also known by its acronym WWF. This organization develops his activities working for a living planet; having as mission the stopping of the nature and earth degradation and building a future where the human being could live in harmony with the nature, preserving the global biodiversity, ensuring the sustainable use of the renewable natural resources, promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.
The mayor campaign of sensitization organized by the WWF is called: Earth Hour, which since six years ago has clustered a big quantity of participants, hundreds of millions of people around the world, companies, governments, and educational centers put their voices together against the climate change, collaborating only by turn off our lights and electronics equipments during 60 minutes.

Earth Hours in numbers:

- More than 100 global icons including: The Sydney Opera House, The Eiffel Tower in Paris, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, The Buckingham Palace, The Royal Palace of Madrid.

- Record of countries: 147.

- Countries and territories that will participate this 2012 for the first time: Libya, Algeria, Bhutan, French Guiana.

- More than 5.000 cities around the world.

- Some of the more of 100 companies involved in Earth Hour: Inditex, Coca Cola, Ambilamp, Cemusa, Orange, Tetra Pak, Vodafone, Meliá Group, Canon, Pull&Bear, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Springfield, Basi, Ausonia, Dodot.
