August 29th, International Day against Nuclear Tests

On December 2nd, 2009, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared August 29th, as the International Day against Nuclear Tests, for been unanimously approved by the Resolution 64/35, which was proposed for the Republic of Kazakhstan with the intention to commemorate the closure of the polygon nuclear tests of Semipalatinsk on August 29th, 1991, which was the result of several bilateral and multilateral governmental events, from very important moves of civil society and of the General Secretary himself. However, the agreement of total prohibition of nuclear tests - has not been entered into force.
