Supporting The International Year of Forest 2011; June 5Th, World Environment Day The World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th; it goal is to involve people all over the world in an active environmental action, seeking to be the most important environmental celebration in the world. This event started in 1972, and since that year has evolved to be one of the main means of the United Nations to stimulate the environmental conscience in the entire world, and to promote green political actions.

The sameday, the General Assembly of the United Nations approved the creation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), which has as a mission to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.

This year,the chosen theme for this celebrationis: “Forests: Nature at your service”.This theme aims to make the private companies, the governments, and the civilians to be aware of the stabilization of the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases.

How to contribute?
Governments must stimulate the restoration of cut down forests, to cordon off areas inhabited by endangered species, and must develop politics that impulse to a sustainable use of forests. Civilians have a really relevant role supporting the environmental initiatives, and helping to increase the general conscience about forests.

Private companies can develop acquisitions processes in which are limited to buy only products certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

Did you know that every year 13 millions of hectares of forest are destroyed?
Even though that forests are the home of 300 millions of people, and more than the 50%of species of animals, plants and insects. With a simple change in the acquisitions politics of the company you can lead it to a green growth!
