Labor Immovability extended for the year 2014

Through Presidential Decree No. 639 published in the Official Gazette No. 40.310, the labor immovability was once again extended for the year 2014 for all the employees in the public and private sector.
According to the regulation, the labor immovability for the next year will be effective from January 1st, to 31st of December 2014; the employees ruled by this decree cannot be fired, transferred or demoted without proper cause qualified by the labor inspector.
In the event that an employee is fired or transferred without proper cause, he will have up to thirty (30) calendar days to report this action to the labor inspectorate and request the reinstatement to his previous condition, which include the payment of salary or any other benefits which he may have not perceived.
